  27. companion document "Publishing Information on the Internet with Anonymous
  28. FTP" [1] and are an initial attempt a providing a consistent naming
  29. scheme for indexing information for Internet information "objects" such
  30. as documents, services and site information.

  41. 1. INTRODUCTION

  43. The templates in this document may, at first glance, appear to be very
  44. long and complicated. However, a closer inspection will reveal that this
  45. is in fact not the case and that there is a consistent, logical structure
  46. throughout. In many cases only a fraction of the data elements will need
  47. to be filled out to provide a useful entry in your publishing
  48. environment, be it an anonymous FTP server or other forum. Many of the
  49. repeated fields can be eliminated with the judicious use of USER or
  50. ORGANIZATION templates. This document does not describe the valid range
  51. of values for each data element. These are listed in [1] and users should
  52. consult that document for futher information and examples.
